Fat People
By Kaylan Galloway

You finally start running
Trying to lose weight
When you take a quick glance in the mirror and realize it’s too late
Your stomach hangs past your knees
You take two steps and you find it hard to breathe
You’re not sleep but yet you’re snoring
When you’re not eating the moment is boring
You say you thick but you know you’re fat
And your chest looks like an extra butt-crack
You’re known in our school as whale back
You can feed half of Africa with all the snacks in your backpack
I find it funny you past health class
I guess the health teacher got tired of your fat ass
You can’t fit through the doorway so the teacher threw you in the hall
You shake the whole school with just a single fall
And since you out of breathe no one hears it when you call
If you’re offended I would be glad to end this
Because
Even though you’re fat you’re still on my friend’s list

My rating: <a href="http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/310015110%22%3E4 of 5 stars

This is a great book. It consists of many different stories. One of my favorite was "The bench". It was a story about a man refusing to get off a bench and everyone respected him for it. The policemen waas telling him to get up & People was yelling, "Don't argue with the nigga, just get him up."
Another one of the my favorite stories in this book was "Bruzz". This book was about a boy who worked at a store then a man came in as if he was new to the town. The man was questioning the boy. He was buying a lot of drinks and talking like he had been running from someone or something. He asked about cops and why did the boy's town have any. He then seemed shock and chilled. He was a crimnal and the sheriff told the other members of the town that "the little boy was a smart little Negro". This was because he was the one who hsd caught the crook.

Another story I read in this book was called "The convert" . A pretty good storie. This is about a man doing whats right. His friend was murdered but the white men who beat his friend wanted him to say he had reached for the gun and that's what started the fight. Now they are in the courtroom and he is scared because all the white people are in the front staring him down. He said the he wasn't sure if his friend reached for the gun. This really pissed every one in the courtroom off. Well all the white folks. The whites ordered he get out of town as quickly is he could.

Beautiful Business Woman
Your hazel brown eyes brings out the stripes in your tan dress
Your slightly cracked smile makes you a lot differrent from the rest.
Your amazingly soft voice
Makes you be able toget any man of your chice
Your light-brown skin and how soft your skin feels
The way carry your brown suitcase it makes things seem real
You sit in your office and listen to everything your fat boss mension
Your independence and your ambition
are two things that catches my attention
Employee of the year 5 times has to be glory
You will live to tell such a fanscinating story
As you block out all the people playing around
you open up to all the people working through town
You conquer sound

What exactly is Poetry to me?

Poetry is formal way of expressing one's inner feelings. Most poems have different meanings and/or purposes. I write poems because it helps me express feelings i cant quite explain but i know are there. Poetry isnt a hard thing to do. Its not really meant to rhyme. You just do it to make a point. Poetry is a way to tell people how you feel. You catch their attention by writing things you or someone else have gone through or experienced.

Why its important to read.

It is very important to read and many benefits from reading. It can expand your knowledge in many ways, opens opportunities for you and it helps you connect and communicate well with others. You can read faces, books, body language, maybe even movies.

Reading can expand your knowledge. For instance, I learned, from a book I received in Government, that it takes a long time before a bill becomes a law. In 10th grade I learned the most common scientific. When my grandmother's church had a family gathering, I learned that many people believe different stories about God. I didn’t really think it was possible if they attended the same church.

Another benefit from reading is it opens opportunities. I was recently visiting an art museum, when a man from Webster University told me about how their college works and what it takes to be apart of their college. He told me that he will be looking forward to seeing me. The other day I found myself reading a college guide from LSU, it gave me information on what it takes to play sports there. One thing it pointed out was a person would have had to play sports for at least two of my high school years and a descent GPA.

Reading also allows you to connect and communicate easier with others in many ways. For example, I connected with my entire school when we, as a group, read a book called “The Hunger Games". We, as in the teachers and students came as one & discussed what happens after each chapter we read. I gathered information on how communicate with deaf people, by reading different sign-language books. Over the summer, I connected with one of my ex-girlfriends when I read a book she had written when we were together.

Honestly, there are thousands of ways reading helps you. Opportunities are all over--Just pick up a book and read. I know if a 4 year old tries to read, you can. Although they can’t pronounce every word, they still have the brains to attempt to read. What about you?
